Obligatory Monday Afternoon Post-Concert Post - 140628 @ Club FF and Freebird 2 - Big Bird

I'm really glad I decided last minute to stop into Club FF before heading to Big Bird, as I got a chance to see HumanRace for the first time, and I was really impressed! They have a great BritPop-type sound [they did a cover of The Killers' "Human"], while still keeping a very Korean style to it. I found them in the same vein as Space Papa [a new favorite], and Man [as much of an 'old' favorite as I can have, for as short as I've been here]. Something I really enjoy is seeing musicians loving what they are doing... you can see that with this band -- especially the bass player. He was pretty much smiling from start to finish and that is pretty much as endearing as anyone can get for me. Wish I had taken more video. Loved them, can't wait to see them again!

Ok, so, the reason I made the last minute detour to Club FF was to see AnnyeongBada. One of the few indie[ish] bands I knew about before coming here, they are still one of my very favorites [ok, I have A LOT of favorites]. But AnnyeongBada is special... I love the slick bass lines, I love the ridiculous dancing [especially during 'Last Night' ["어젯밤"]]... Yeah, I just love them. It doesn't matter to me that I had the exact same view as last time, squarely in front of the bass player, that the audio on my videos is a bit muffled, or that the set was pretty much the same as the last time I saw them. I love these guys, I will see them any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
"어젯밤" / "Last Night"

Even though 어젯밤 was certainly the cutest part of their set, this is still my favorite song they performed: "별 빛이 내린다"

After AnnyeongBada I headed over to catch GOGOBIGSHOW VOL13 at Freebird 2

Having only seen this band twice, I can firmly say... "You never know what to expect at a GOGOSTAR show." ... My first experience with GOGOSTAR was at Club FF and that was the CRAZIEST I have yet seen a crowd in Korea... I wore bruises for at least two weeks. Freebird 2 is a bigger venue, and this being essentially a showcase, so GOGOSTAR played from start to finish. What I love about GOGOSTAR is that their shows are a complete experience. Somewhat like Super Geek League [Seattle] or Captured! By Robots [San Francisco], you should go to their shows expecting to be entertained, and you absolutely will be! If vocalist Lee TaeSun wasn't doing music, I guarantee he'd be an emcee or comedian somewhere on TV [I also have mad respect for anyone who can rock a Barbie(tm) shirt]. TaeSun's solo was fun to watch as he "struggled" [but not really] with a crowd that wasn't prepared to join in the performance, but embraced it whole-heartedly. In a great show filled with amazing moments... wow... TaeSun hitting his mouth on the mic, laughing and soldiering on... Fan from the crowd getting up on stage and singing the song so TaeSun could have a break... Dude crowdsurfing [onto the stage, drinking from the bands' water bottles, then throwing water on the crowd, then stage-diving back off the stage], and the keyboardist [who pretty much is always seen with a mask on], getting not only his mask, but his shirt taken off. Pretty amazing show GOGOSTAR. Well done.... WELL DONE.

"너 미쳤어???"
